The Chicken Pox Plagues

It is summertime in the Philippines! Ang along with the the summer fun comes summer diseases and infections.

Chicken Pox, called "Bulutong Tubig" in tagalog is on the rampage this time of the year in our household. This highly contagious viral infection caused by a herpes virus called "varicella zoster", is viciously ravaging some adults, and some kids too, spoiling the summer fun.

I have contacted  this virus while on our team building activity in Bolinao  , Pangasinan. Some of my officemates, especially the mothers, told me that when you have chicken pox, you have to have a low grade fever first. Since, I don't have a fever, it came as a surprise that I'm actually having chicken pox (I myself wouldn't want to accept that I indeed have chicken pox). I took no medication during my stay in Pangasinan, and boy it was the longest days of my life. I felt prickly!!

When I got home, I took the meds right away. Medicine for the pox includes Valterx which should be taken orally two tablets three times a day in the space of eight hours for seven day. And also ointment called "Zovirax" for the pox when you experience itchiness.

Here are some pictures that I took when I first saw the pox.

A Look Inside Pangasinan's Capitol 2012

"Lingayen, Pangasinan - There's a new touch of elegance inside the Pangasinan provincial capitol. The once drab interior of the sprawling pre-World War II structure is now a glowing display of both classical and modern art and beauty."

I saw the building for the first time April. I have a hunch that the Americans modeled it after the White House (if you look at the back view). The architecture is basically American classical, common in most buildings constructed during the American colonial period. Took some pictures of the building itself, and I was shocked at the grandeur inside. Turns out the interior was renovated last 2008. The capitol complex also has an outdoor museum dedicated to the famous landing of the American forces at Lingayen Gulf nearing the end of the Japanese occupation. Here are some pics I took last April.

Holy Week 2012

"There is no place like home" is a phrase we hear a lot when we come home. Everyone loves to come home during holidays.Especially during long breaks. This season however, I was able to capture what it was like to celebrate Holy Week in our hometown.

St. John the Baptist Church
View of Mayon
Famous for its "perfect cone", it is also a popular place for the stations of the cross during Holy Week. The meditation starts at 3 am in the morning and end at 10 am.

Hong-Kong - Shenzhen Escapades 2011

Finally, I was able to share with you my Hong-Kong - Shenzhen post (which happened last May 2011)!

Hong Kong - Shenzhen Tours
Labsie arrives at NAIA Airport. It's his first time!!
Lounging.. a little bit excited.. a lot excited!
Time for some Lovin'
Departure time! See you later Manila!

We left Manila on May 24, 2011 at 8 pm, the flight was little bit late, because of a bad weather (it was raining a lot on that day!). But glad, that we we're able to took off to Hong-Kong. Upon arrival at Hong-Kong we were mesmerized by how organized their lifestyle is. They were very disciplined, they have signs everywhere, so it's impossible that you'll ever get lost. The bad thing during the travel is that, we weren't able to activate our roaming, so we won't be able to contact those people back home about our whereabouts. They have train inside their terminal that will take you to the luggage area.

Arrival at Hong-Kong Terminal

You won't get lost because there's signs everywhere.

The hotel was quaint but nice, they also serve great breakfast. I also like their bathroom facilities.

On the way to Dorsett Far East Hotel and a wad of cash!

We next went to Victoria Peak, where we can view the panoramic view of Hong-Kong. Hong-Kong was a small country filled with high rise buildings.

Overall, my Disney experience was not bad, I particularly enjoyed the parade and the shows. By the way, the show was in Mandarin, but they have this side screen where you can read subtitles.

Next, on our trip was Shenzhen, Shenzhen was considered to be the window to China.

Shenzhen China

We only get to experience Shenzhen for one day, then we went back to Hong-Kong on our own.

Our tickets back to Hong-Kong

On the way to TinHao, Hong Kong

While we're in TinHao, we explore the place, from TinHao we went to Causeway Bay where there's lot of things to buy.

Trying out the vending machine

Pirates of the Carribean - When you watch Hollywood movies, you're bound to have a Chinese subtitles. Wonder why we can't have that back in Philippines
Luxury everywhere.
One thing we discover about Hong-Kong is that they have these affinity for luxury cars. Labsie go "gaga" over them. He's imagining about having a car with lazy chair in it.

Dinner at Surprise!

Next on our agenda is Ocean Park! Disney is for children, whereas Ocean Park are for those who are looking for thrill rides.

Breakfast at McDo
